DIGITAL HOLISTIC DOCUMENTATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE: CHALLENGES AND RISKS, TOWARDS SHAPING THE FUTURE

Abstract. This paper presents the results of Horizon 2020 ERA Chair in Digital Cultural Heritage: ‘Mnemosyne’ project, which aims to achieve excellence research and innovation holistic documentation past. The project's agenda includes six broad thematic areas, encompass data acquisition, processing, semantic modelling, knowledge management, long-term preservation, use reuse. focuses on key project during several researchers have been training, some whom propose presenting their experience three out total seventeen heritage-documentation case studies chosen be studied digitized. illustrates significant how they can fulfil needs multidisciplinary community experts. Mnemosyne’s team has developed useful methodologies for digitization tangible cultural heritage objects, monuments, sites, as well novel approaches regarding embedded intangible aspects features.
